Players
- Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team’s performance will benefit; so, will you.
- Be a good sport. Cheer all good play whether they are by your team or the other team.
- Treat all players, as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another player. This including making reference to a player’s race, color or sexual orientation.
- Co-operate with your coach, teammates and opponents.
- At all times show respect and manners to everyone concerned, without them there would be no game.
- Never argue with an official. If you disagree, talk to your captain or coach. The only player who can approach the umpire is the captain, during the break of the game.
- Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials, or other players, deliberately fouling or provoking an opponent and throwing equipment is not acceptable or permitted in any sport.
- Never abuse the umpires for decisions made.
- The club has the right to refuse the player to play if the code of conduct is broken.
Parents & Spectators
- Focus upon the player’s effort and performance without setting unrealistic goals for individuals; don’t compare their performance with teammates.
- Teach players that an honest effort is as important as victory so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
- Encourage players to always play according to the rules. If unsure of the rules pick up a rule book, it’s a good idea if parents & spectators understand the rules of the game.
- Never ridicule or yell at a player for making a mistake or losing for being in a losing team.
- Remember that people learn best from example. Applaud good plays from both teams. Making a mistake or being in a losing game as juniors it’s more about fun.
- If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channel rather than question the official’s judgment and honesty in public. Remember that all officials give their time and effort for your child’s involvement voluntarily.
- Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
- Recognize the valve and importance of volunteer coaches. They give their time and resources to provide recreational activities for the players and deserve you support.
- Always remember two points: sportsmanship and fun.
- Swearing or abuse is not permissible at any time. Any type of misconduct towards umpires, coaches or officials will not be accepted, and could result in club disciplinary action, tribunal hearings and fines.
- Team officials are responsible for their own actions. Remember you can be reported by umpires and league officials. The club can suspend any team official at any time.
- Disputing umpires’ decisions or behaving aggressive manners towards them is unacceptable.
- Aggressive behavior and abuse towards opposition players, coaches and club officials or spectators is likewise unacceptable.
- Do not approach the coach on game day for any concerns, please contact a committee representative for your team or put it in writing to the club, where we will resolve the matter.
- The club will not take any responsibility for any fines or tribunal costs incurred by parents.
- Any fines levied towards the club by the league as a result of the actions of a parent / guardian or team official will be the sole responsibility of the individual incurring the fine. The club may suspend players of parents who have to attend tribunal hearings until the hearing has been heard and all costs have been reimbursed to the club.
- The club has the right at any time to terminate any player if parents/guardians do not abide by the code of conduct.
